Mt. Wilson and Bread Loaf Mountain, VT
Date: 07/24/2005
Persons in Group: Brian and Greg.
Weather Conditions: 80-85 degrees, sunny and clear.
Route: Emily Proctor Trail to Long Trail. Long Trail North to Wilson, Long Trail South to Bread Loaf. Out the same way.
Notes: Beautiful day for a hike, too bad there were limited views on these peaks. We hit the Emily Proctor Trail at 9AM, and headed up the 3.7 miles to the Emily Proctor Shelter. We then did the 1.6 round trip on the LT North to the summit of Mt. Wilson, and then the 1.4 round trip on the LT South to the summit of Bread Loaf. Not very busy today on these trails today. I imagine everyone else probobly decided to climb some of the mountains north of here on such a beautiful day. I'm sure Abraham and Camels Hump were very busy.

We hit the Emily Proctor Trail at 9AM sharp.

After .2 miles or so, I sign in at the register.

Less than 2 hours and 3.7 miles later, my dad is standing in front of the Emily Proctor Shelter. The shelter sits at roughtly 3550 feet. Pretty good time for an old man!

We hit the the LT North after enjoying a PB&J sandwich, and headed the .8 miles to the Mt. Wilson Summit. My dad hasn't been here since 1974.

A short herdpath lead to some views of the east.
We headed back to the shelter, and then continued another .7 miles on the LT South untill we reached the summit of Bread Loaf. My dad doesn't know what to do with the views on this baby.

We did find an outlook, marked by this old sign.
And the view.

We headed back down to the Shelter again, and trucked on out down the Emily Proctor Trail again. Here's me crossing the river about a mile from the parking lot.
Great view of Mt. Abraham on the way back...too bad I can't hold a camera straight.
