Date: 07/10/2005

Persons in Group: Brian and Greg.

Weather Conditions: 85 degrees, sunny and clear.

Route: Blue Summit Trail (aka Burr and Burton Trail) to the summit. Back the same way.

Notes: Parked the car at approx. 950 feet altitude. To the summit of Equinox, elevation 3850, we gained almost 3000 feet in a little under 3 miles. Maybe it was the fact that I climbed Mendon Peak the day before, and my dad had driven up from Long Island, asleep at midnight and up around 5AM, but man this climb was a ball buster. Also, at the summit we located this geocache.

Behind the Equinox Hotel and Resort is this map of the area. You can see the "Blue Trail" that we follow the entire way, leads to the summit.

A little ways from the hotel, we reach the begining of the Blue Trail, and this sign marking the Equinox Preservation Trust.

A rugged 3 miles later, a picture of me at the summit, communications tower stands.

And picture of the inn at the summit, with my dad in front.

Facing outwords in front of a nice view of the area.

And a closeup of the sign.

There wasn't too much activity on the summit for having a road, and it being a beautiful day. We stayed for about 45 min, ate lunch and tracked down a geocache and then headed out. Steep trails are almost as hard going down as they are up, thats for sure. Thank god for poles.
